Ensign Keith is hot! I take it Bogey is the bad guy? Fred McMurray(sp)? Is this a Disney movie?

Bogarts breakdown at the end makes up for an otherwise mediocre film
            • Hot!
I think this is definitely one of bogarts best. Of course for romance Casablanca later tonight

The scars on Van Johnson's forehead was cause by a metal plate installed due to a car accident. For this movie he decided not to cover them up with make-up because it was a war movie.

Big money maker for Columbia Pictures 2nd only to WHITE CHRISTMAS in 1954. Maurice Micklewhite, who was a Bogart fan, got his screen name from this movie, Michael Caine.

Enjoying some time in the Pacific with Oscar, Bogie, Van, and Fred.

Humphrey Bogart is one of his more acclaimed roles.
            • Hot!
Good flick. Jose Ferrer is great as the attorney & Fred McMurray oddly enough as a real weasel more than willing to let someone else take a bullet for him.
              • Edith McDonald
Edith McDonald @bnichols23> Before this movie, I thought that Fred was the hero type. But, my God, can he play one of the biggest weasels in Hollywood film history!

              • Bill Nichols
Bill Nichols @edith_mcdonald This & "Double Indemnity" are two films of his more people ought to see. He doesn't have the rep of being a multifaceted actor that, say, Roberts Duvall or DeNiro do, but he definitely has more ability to play diverse characters than most people see in him. :)

Edith McDonald @bnichols23> You are so right! I first saw him in that limp show called My Three Sons, which did him and his acting ability no credit. But, he was way more muti faceted than any actor today. If he was either doing comedy, film noir, or action, it was like I was seeing him for the first time!

This is a great movie. I love Bogart in this one. He plays crazy very well, with subtlety and depth as the situation dictates.

Saw it last night--very interesting subject: to obey your superior even when he's totally crazy?
              • Edith McDonald
Edith McDonald @muggle89> The chain of command order still applies to this day. It's not up to those in the lower orders to decided if the Commander is insane, but you have the right to go above his head to complain. But lo to those who have no proof or take this action lightly -to call an officer insane is tantamount to career suicide.

Bogart is spooky in this movie, isn't he?
            • Hot!
Bogey is absolutely great in this role! I agree with Robert Osborne in that it would have been better in black and white! Strawberries, anyone?

The music sometimes is just too chipper.
