I've seen this movie countless times over the year, but seeing it screened at Space4Art tonight in traffic and woodsmoke somehow recovered the emotional depths that were buried in admiration for its technique before. The influences from Kubrick's Clockwork Orange, Pontecorvo's Battle of Algiers and Kalazatov's Soy Cuba were highlighted beforehand, which I found eyeopening. And Clive Owen's hunted, haunted performance as he has a really difficult three days remains as riveting as the world creation. A 21st century masterpiece.

Watching my favorite film for the first time in too too long.
