I can't recommend this film enough. Ms. Moriguchi's opening monologue is astonishing, as are Werther's well-wishing but horribly misguided attempts to connect with these kids (whose performances are stunning as well). These stories are cruel and tragic, no one comes out of them looking good. And that is one hell of a soundtrack.

Loves a Japanese horror.

A bold, shocking, terrifying and masterful drama about revenge and the ripple of cause and effect. It also provides an insight and careful examination on modern society. The story will suck you in, dragging the bits and pieces from its characters, until it finally forms one full cold and calculated circle. Brilliant direction, editing and cinematography. Japanese cinema simply hasn't been this daring and exciting in a long time.

I'd been wanting to watch this again since I first saw it and enjoyed it no less for having already seen it & knowing the outcome.
