Dark, beautiful and magical story. Love the characters and the message. Was a breakthrough film at the time in special effects - doesn't exactly stand up to current special effects, but at the time it was pretty darn cool.

They should do a new version with actual people instead of puppets. With Justin Long as Jen and Mary-Kate Olson as Kira. Lol

Sometimes I feel like my job is sucking the essence out of me!

Saw this movie earlier this year. It was the first time in years. Its still a landmark film in puppetry and a landmark film in within the fantasy genre. Jim Henson was a true artist.

I heard SO many people say "What a morbid movie", I silently laughed to myself!!!

Magical story. The special effects where at the time very impressive. Still, the story is even today appealing. Not your usual Jim Henson Movies (since he's most know for the Muppets), but it's a must see if you like Jim Henson stuff.

The Dark Crystal is, in the purest and deepest sense, my childhood. I will show this to my children, and they to theirs. In the dark part of Jim Henson's mind was a world that touched many of us in ways he will sadly never know.

Fantastically creepy. Possibly the Henson's best film work.

I just watched this again after many years. I must say I highly admire the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail which make this a one of a kind work of art.
