I read the book and it's absolutely brilliant, just like this movie is! Sandra Bullock and Ashley Judd are phenomenal in it!

One of my favorite southern fried movies. Steel magnolias, driving miss Daisy, fried Green tomatoes, the secret lives of bees.

Love this movie. The book is even better.

The book was way better. The movie makes it seem like just a difference between a mother and a daughter. When it's more complicated than that.
            • Anjelus
Anjelus I'm sure the book goes deeper into the story then the movie. I haven't read the book, but I did see the movie and I never got the impression that it was just differences between mother and daughter. Too me it looked like a mother who was suffering from a mental/mood disorder that at that time wasn't properly appreciated or treated. Making it hard for her to deal with life's ups n downs(maybe bipolar). The daughter Bullock takes on the mothers issues and makes it seem as though the mother doesn't love her, but with psychological disorders things go deeper then love in the mind of the suffer. And for the kids it's hard for them to fully understand. Well that's what I got from it! :-)
