I can't believe I haven't seen this before! I'm not really that into baseball; I don't dislike baseball movies, but I don't go out of my way to see them, either. This movie was AMAZING and wonderfully done. Costner does an excellent job portraying Billy Chapel, an aging pitcher at the end of his career, struggling with his identity in the wake of losing the woman he loves while fighting against an injured hand and shoulder and a team urging him to retire. Costner is forced to examine his life to discover who he is without baseball, which has defined him for his entire life, and what he wants now that chapter is coming to a close. The movie takes place during a game against the Yankees, which looks to be Chapel's last game. He reminiscing about the ups and downs of his career and relationship with the love of his life, all leading up to this fateful game. He faces losing the two things most important to him, the love of his life and the love of the game. This movie was a won...
