Bob Hope plays Larry Lawrence, a New York City detective who stows away in a trunk that ends up on a boat en route to an island castle, which Mary Carter (Paulette Goddard) has recently inherited. Once there, many perilous and hilarious adventures await them in this castle that's rumored to be haunted. The Ghost Breakers is widely heralded as the best of Hope and Goddard's combined efforts.

Thank GOD that black actors have come as far as they have since the early days...it's damn near impossible to watch some old movies because of that horridly stereotypical acting.
