A really fun movie, really has an H.P. Lovecraft feel to it. I love movies with an augmented reality where you actually begin to think that these failrytale places coexist with our history. Its a fun... more

I think it's the movie that Del Toro probably would've made if he had been given a larger budget the first time around. I wasn't expecting the "green" message they were not-so-subtly trying to inject... more

J. Asia Jackson Very well written, great job! :) -
Crucifixio Jones Hellboy's still funny, even when he doesn't mean to be. His "I don't like Germans" comment before meeting Krauss was funny enough but I definitely got a kick out of one joke in particular when he calls out to Krauss and Johann corrects him, "It's KrauSS. Double S." and Hellboy replies, "Ah, S.S." The argument leading up to their confrontation in BPRD's locker room might be the funniest part of the movie (next to "Red" and "Blue" downing Tecate's and swapping stories about their girl troubles, of course). Krauss (matter-of-factly): "I think I can take you." Krauss pulls off one of the cooler acts in the movie when he uses his gaseous form to take control of the armor/body of one of the fallen Golden Army soldiers. Too bad it doesn't last...
People may not like the "relationship" stuff between Liz and Hellboy but it wasn't overdone so I didn't mind it much at all. A shame about Abe's crush, though. -
Crucifixio Jones I liked the foreshadowing about Hellboy's future, as well. Like when Abe Sapien looked at him through those goggles that Johann Krauss provided to see creatures' true nature, you could see Hellboy's horns fully-grown out and a fiery crown on his head...The Angel of Death telling Liz that Hellboy is supposed to bring about the destruction of the Earth and because it was ultimately her decision to keep him alive rather than let him die, she'd suffer most. Her response was classic as was the revelation she gave Hellboy to bring him back from the edge of death. And when Hellboy challenges Prince Nuada for control of the Golden Army, Princess Nuala tells her brother that he must accept, calling Hellboy Son of the "Fallen One."
