This is really a Lauren Bacall movie (not Maryilyn Monroe). The period gowns and music are very well done. This is really just an early 50s fluff piece - Not unlike the rom-coms of today. Bacall stands out and quick references to her husband Bogart ("that old guy in African Queen") make the movie funny. This is not high art but as a period piece, it still holds its entertainment value if you are in the mood for shallow romantic humor.
