Read it... Now watching the film adaptation...

-Flick centered around Allen Ginsbergs poem, "Howl" and the controversy surrounding it. Starring James Franco & Jon Hamm...yes!!

After reading it,i thought I'd check it out on netflix between classes.

James Franco, David Strathairn, Jon Hamm, yes I believe I'll give this a go!

the poem still sounds like a mess to me

Went to the screening at Busboys and Poets! I liked the movie a lot more than I did the first time I saw it.

Watching this with my friend after we read it in our American literature class. Such an interesting movie and Ginsberg was really cool. James Franco is good on the eyes as always.

If this isn't about werewolves Imma be sorely disappointed.

I have to be shown, with lame ass animation what the poet is writing about? Fail in my book. Oh well. But it's not obscene.

James Franco is absolutely amazing in the way he recites the poem as Ginsberg...trial scenes are fine, too, only animations are a little too weak (in the way they chose the images)

As someone who's never read the poem, this movie made me want to read it. #Howl

A weird movie and I didn't really care for the animations, but there were some really profound explanations or descriptions about the creative process that I could relate to. As an artist people often ask you what your words are about. Allen described this with a metaphor of a photograph. Sometime you don't know yourself when you write it and then it slowly develops to you like a photograph. How very true that is! As for the poem Howl I think it was important for its time but not important to me.

Hmmm, ok, but works best in the trial scenes. Jeff Daniels and John Hamm and David Strathairn battle it out in the landmark obscenity trial of Allen Ginsberg's Poem, Howl. Aaron Tveit, Broadway musical star, has a small part as Ginsberg's long-time lover. Interesting use of animation to illustrate the difficult poem, but I did find James Franco unconvincing (and far too handsome for this part!).

uh oh james franco playing ginsberg....have my reservations

James Franco is a fantastic actor.

Artistic to say the least. I am a fan of James Franco. I wish didn't focus on content regulation as much we needed to focus on the reasons bad content is created in the first place. #Jesus

Giving this a shot

I'm going to have to read Ginsburg, then watch again, but it is interesting.
