Portraying Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, Denzel Washington trained for a year to get in boxing shape and was robbed of the Oscar for Best Actor. Kevin Spacey won it for AMERICAN BEAUTY and trained also and just as good but I think they chose the latter because of Box Office sales. That just my opinion but THE HURRICANE is one of my top 5 favorite sport films of real people.

Amazing true story. Gotta read his book.
