"I Am," a prismatic and probing exploration of our world, what's wrong with it, and what we can do to make it better, represents Tom Shadyac's first foray into non-fiction following a career as one of Hollywood's leading comedy practitioners, with such successful titles as "Ace Ventura," "Liar Liar," and "Bruce Almighty" to his credit. "I Am" recounts what happened to the filmmaker after a cycling accident left him incapacitated, possibly for good. Though he ultimately recovered, he emerged a changed man.

The pursuit of truth has been a lifelong passion....and this film challenges our preconceptions about human behavior while simultaneously celebrating the indomitable human spirit.

This is a brilliant and coincidental journey which concludes with the same conclusions of so many prophetic and scholastic people from our recent history, such as "Emerson". "I Am" was born from a person whom had a cataclysmic head concussion, driving him to recluse, watch television and find that he was part of the world's problems.
Reflecting on his gifts to human kind, and the world, he feels that all of the problems in the media and the problems in the real-world stem from a central source. After finally beginning to properly heal, physically, he sets out to discuss our way of thinking. Being director of top selling movies, Mr. Shadyac journeys into the world to find solutions, asking a basic question "What is human kind's basic nature?"
