Relatively standard fish-out-of-water story has Jaden Smith displaced from the US to Beijing, picked on by his peers, and taught discipline and kung fu by Jackie Chan. Contains no karate, but trades on your memories of the 1984 film of the same name in order to sell sell sell. That said, it's not a bad film. Jaden Smith isn't bad, and Jackie Chan playing it straight is definitely worth your attention. Also, it's nice to see an American film dominated by Chinese talent. Worth a look.
