Billy Casper (David Bradley) is a puny kid from the poor end of Barnsley. He's struggling in school, bullied by his older brother and basically dismissed by everyone else. But when he finds an injured fledgling kestrel, he begins to train the bird -- learning a lot about himself in the process.

Although it feels like an important historical document, UK social realism in the 60s, the film feels like it´s not affected by time. Still painful, cold and beautiful all at once.
