Still an amazing story and movie...so worth rewatching

Speechless. Reading the auto-biography / wiki / and other sources while watching the film. Can someone help me out here? How can humans suck this bad? So many mixed feelings!

After reading the China: A History, watching this movie held much deeper meaning for me. There is something sad about this poor boy emperor, turned hostage, turned prisoner, who is the last of tremendously long road of history and tradition. The world changing around him, and for much of his life, he remains almost blissfully unaware of it. The Son of Heaven, prisoner of his own title.

Reliving my visit to The Forbidden City in Beijing. I love being able to say: "I was there!"

Period pieces that actually stay within the period are hard to find. This is a beautiful film that tells a fairly accurate account of the last monarch of China. Currently streaming on Netflix
