At first, I expected this to be typical PC slant on a WWII film. But I was surprised at how good it was. I'm glad Eastwood made it.

Late night war movies with dad! This is such a solid movie, I would have preferred to see it with subtitles instead, but oh well.

Not looking forward to starting a 3 hour movie at 11PM but I feel duty to learn about WWII, and am intrigued by the fact it's 4*, directed by Clint Eastwood, and tells story from Japanese side, while Eastwood directed another 3.5* movie the same year telling the story from the American side, Flags of Our Fathers, also scheduled this weekend.

Really wished AMC had some respect and show the original version rather than the poorly English dubbed version.

Well, now that it's a confirmed dub I won't watch this. I'll rent it later and watch it the way it was meant to be seen. Dubs suck and the translation is usually shaky anyway.

This would be better in Japanese with English subtitles.

This is AWESOME!!! Both movies back to back on AMC. I've always wanted to watch this movie. But have never been able to, for some reason or another.

Only time I've seen this, was on extra long plane trip. Was really difficult to read the subtitles, as the monitor was on the headrest of the seat in front of me. Very small screen.

Staying for the second half of the mini Eastwood Iwo Jima films marathon. Now we get the Japanese side of the story. An excellent film
