Outstanding and riveting. My only complaint is Mark Wahlberg. (It will take many years to get over "The Happening".)

The Book is also a great one to read, I don't quite remember if they catch the neighbor at the end , but I think they do and in the book the mother has an affair with the detective.

This is a beautiful movie, (excuse the pun), which leaves you a little frustrated at the ending, as you want the villain to be captured by the police...

It had a lot in common with "What Dreams May Come" very magical very creative scenarios. Here's what bothered me: focused on too many characters and had Walhberg in it(not to fond of his acting)...Overall lovely movie...

Masterly shot,bold color,great images,fantastic visual metaphors,beautiful at times even Peter Jackson shows his talent,but with all his distractions,and a couple of cheap storytelling moments Jackson has somehow managed to take brutal and disturbing matter and make it nothing apart from vague amusement...

Brilliantly spent 2hrs of my time! This is how ordinary story about kidnapped girl becomes an extraordinary visual masterpiece. There's only one scene I didn't find to be needed: (spoiler!) when Susie got into strange girl's body - this is cheap and absolutely unnecessary moment. But everything else is great, so it could be "en passant" scene.

Should have stayed on earth more to drive empathy for family in shock/sorrow but overall a decent film.

Slightly depressing at the end. I wanted that guy to pay more.

Not unwatchable in fact it had some great moments, but over all I didn't like it. The ending was disappointing and Walhberg's performance could not redeem it. My biggest complaint is the odd mix of cheesy fluffy scenes with brutal gory scenes, which alienated the young audiences (the gore) and the mature audiences (the fluff), who is left? (fan's of the book). Also the annoying VO monologue which was going throughout the whole movie, 5/10
