let's start with the positives. competent direction. action was shot well. beautiful cinematography. now...everything else. as far as a movie based on a video game goes, there are obvious similarities with what Fox did with this and their other acquisition, Hitman starring Timothy Olyphant. except Hitman at least touched on plot points that showed up in the video game series. Max Payne, which is just barely more watchable than that movie, is a bouillabaisse of producers' intentions. part Constantine, part Robocop 2, part bland Sin City atmosphere, and all uninspired garbage. Max Payne COULD have been amazing if the story from the video game series was translated directly to film. it was a story MADE for film. classic hard-boiled noir. TAILOR-MADE. reminds me of what the filmmakers did with the Resident Evil series; if they only translated the story and setting directly to the film, it would have been an excellent example of zombie horror. you ever read that George Romero script for ...

Three years ago, NYPD detective #Max #Payne's wife and baby were murdered. Max gets himself transferred to the cold case office where he can continue searching for the killer who got away. He's a loner, but two people reach out to him during a fateful week: Alex, his ex-partner who may have found a clue, and BB, the security chief at the pharmaceutical company where Max's wife worked. Meanwhile, bodies are piling up, some as a result of a drug on the street that is highly addictive and, for many who take it, brings hideous hallucinations. When one of the bodies is a woman Payne was the last to see alive, her sister comes looking for him armed to the teeth; Max must move fast.

Humm... not bad, but the game plot could deliver a better movie.

Never saw. I got it for 4 dollars in a discount blu ray bin though. So its probly worth 4 dollars...

From what I remember it's crap and story deviates away from that of the game, but it's been a long time since I saw it so giving it a second try.

Weird thing: Olga Kurylenko was in three blockbusters 2007/8 where the hero stoically refused to sleep with her. I don't know why I know this.
