Being strung out on pain meds makes for fun movie watching

Scorsese's first great film - really interesting to see the early uses of various elements that would later come to be Scorsese-trademarks, such as the tracking shots & soundtrack, as well as being his 1st collaboration w/ De Niro. One of the better films of the early-70's, which is no small feat considering how many amazing movies were released during that period.

Fascinating to see Noho/Little Italy/Bowery in the early 70s. Nostalgic for the grittiness!

Love the grittiness of this movie. Tough as all Hell. Scorsese rules. Especially his early movies like this one.

A Scorsese classic... DeNiro & Kietel... Can't go wrong...

Gritty and with a direct line to the seedy world of new York in the 70's, this movie had some quality actors (DeNiro and Keitel) in their young days and they really do an excellent job. This movie isn't too in your face mafia and in fact, it mostly deals with the reality of choosing between leaving your past behind or staying linked to it (despite the consequences of staying linked). Great film if you want a character driven movie where the lines are minimal but certainly not wasted.

"Directed by Martin Scorsese". Alright, this should wash out the bad, bad taste of the B$M.

Downloading a digital Blu-Ray copy.
