Apparently, it's "relive my childhood" day. :-p I can relate to Bastian; smart kid with a love for books, head in the clouds, always picked on and never doing the "right" thing. It's such a beautiful story of a boy not only finding his own worth, but realizing the importance of allowing his recently deceased mother's legacy to live on. It teaches us that it's OK to dream, and we don't always have to ignore the voice of fantasy. After all, that's where some of our greatest creativity lies, as well as the memories of those we have lost along the way.

I miss being a kid somedays people...

This was one of my most favorite movie from childhood.

Classic! And because of my kiddos I have perfect excuse to watch it again :-)

Re-watching this 15 years later. I happened to notice that the Sphynxs' had nipples. Pretty adult for a childrens movie. They used to freak me out as a child. The Sphynx not nipples.

I bought this movie on DVD for my niece and nephew. I decided to go back and watch it again myself. It's surprising how much I remember of a movie that I haven't seen in a decade. It must have made quite an impression on my younger self. An 80's cult classic, for sure!

I was surprised at how much fun this movie still is. Being older, you pick up on some major issues that you don't as a child ("borrowing" the book, skipping school, breaking and entering, not going home after school), but it is a really fun and magical world that they created.

There are some lessons to learn, characters to enjoy, and lots of fun to be had. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one still enjoying this film.

After telling my wife that our dog's teeth remind me of Gmork, we talked about the movie, and now I wanna watch it. Man...I love hearing this opening music. I'm a kid again.
