Minnelli's voice was at its most potent perfection here.
Scorsese knew it and used it. Hence the amazing, magical and almost 12 minute long number for "Happy Endings".

New York,New York written for LIZA (not Sinatra!) by Kander & Ebb and directed by Scorsese = halcyon movie watching.
