Every time I watch this movie I'm blown away. Not only one of the best movies of all time but maybe the BEST. A reminder of a time when Hollywood knew how to make movies!

The emotion of that scene...I've seen it so many times and it still touches me. All that was said and everything unspoken. Just powerful.

I like how Kazan pretty much let his actors do their thing in this movie. The performances seem so real and natural, not "directed". Less was more here.

isaiah4031 Every actor was clearly unique. I wonder if that was from the actor or writer. You're probably right the actors were able and willing to work

teemcee @isaiah4031 The famous scene in the cab was a retake in which the actors had pretty much improvised their dialog from the original script. Kazan liked that shot better.

That scene in the cab (which was mostly unscripted) are some of the greatest in all of cinema. Steiger and Brando were amazing.

I pretty much love everything Brando did because he did take risks (and/or paychecks) but this is probably my favorite of his roles.

If I ever hear James Cameron or Quentin Tarantino plan to remake this film, I will make it my personal mission to have them jailed.

TCM... Greatest line up EVER. Thank you (as always) - Love my Karl Malden TCM Wednesday's in March... This is by far his greatest performance (oh yeah, Brando is ok, I guess... sarcasm.)
