After he discovers that he's the son of the Greek god Poseidon (Kevin McKidd), teenager Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) strikes out on an action-packed adventure to rescue his mortal mother and negotiate a peace treaty between his father, Zeus (Sean Bean) and Hades (Steve Coogan) and prove he didn't steal Zeus's powerful lighting bolt and is really not the lighting thief.

my favorite part was when they started playing lady gaga's pokerface in the casino and how percy started giggling. that was funny. =)
i really love grover, even it he is totally different then in the books. i think that he's a great character in both the book and the movie. a nice, reliable guy. but in the movie he was a lot funnier, and he had some great lines. and he still ate tin cans in the movie, which was awesome.
it was really cool how they did the whole water healing part. i thought that was awesome-and how they showed percy's dyslexia.
percy, annabeth, and grover were all a whole bunch older then in the books. they're like in high school or something. that's ok, cuz all the actors are way older-like, nearly 20 or over
but is it just me who thinks that it's kinda weird persephone looks like a total hooker?Vote:- Right on(0)

I'm anxious to read the books because they dumbed down the movie quit a bit playing to the younger audience. Some nice visual effects and I learned a bit of Greek Mythology which I knew nothing of before.

I personally was really looking forward to a movie with some form of Greek mythology in it, I was certainly not expecting big house names such as Uma Thurman as Medusa and Pierce Brosnan as Chiron, Rosario Dawson...I mean right there and there you have very good reasons to watch the movie!!
I did not read the books, but the overall feeling of this movie seems very much like Harry Potter as to how 'a normal kid ends up being supernaturally special and moves to another realm of existence from which you can go in and out of with secret/magical doors'. I will not go on with the side by side comparison I will just add that although it is magical and it has a butt-load of Special Effects, the movie does not loose track of what is important for the main character and comes full circle to give a heartwarming closure to the plot. - Blake M. Although the film took major liberties with the novel, as a standalone feature it works well. Well-acted and directed, and it gets the spirit of the story right, if not the details. I liked it.

Just saw this tonight. I give it 5 stars. I have not read any of the books but I can see how this would be a very interesting and fun adventure series to read!

seen it last night...it's great (but i found it boring toward the end, maybe it's just me or the dialogues were not challenging)...there are great and awesome scenes with water, especially the opening scene with poseidon emerging from the sea......the medussa's head scenes are also cool, Pierce Brosnan looked funny with centaur's outfit *roll* well my nieces love the movie, so adult step back!

I saw this with my kids and some of their friends on opening night. We'd all read the books, so we were all a little leary of any changes made for the screen. While most of the kids recognized the (many) changes from the book, they also appreciated the movie on its own merits. A fun evening, good escapism, well acted throughout.

I LOVED this movie! The trailer was intriguing, and my son's halfway through the book and enjoying it, but I wasn't expecting it to be so much fun. It was like Stan Lee decided create a Harry Potter for the "real world". FTW! Sequels, please.

There were good parts to it, but there were so many inconsistencies in the story line that I had a hard time not tearing it apart the whole time. But - since it is made for kids...they probably won't notice at all. My suggestion? WAIT FOR THE VIDEO and get it from Netflix - Blockbuster - or better yet FREE from Redbox when you can find a code. Not worth buying!
