An amalgam of the plot lines from When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle, Serendipity has John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale meeting cute during a Christmas shopping spree but parting company soon thereafter. Ten years (and a few failed relationships) later, they yearn to put true love to the test by reuniting.

Everything happens for a reason. This movie and The Notebook are exactly the kind of movie that you hope your love story is when you find that special one.

Maybe it's because I'm not a big fan of either of the main actors, maybe because it's too predictable, or because the star-crossed lovers thing was just too long and drawn out and frustrating. I think it bugged me that toward the end one of them was literally moments from marrying someone else, and then essentially has to dump them at (or very near to) the altar, which doesn't exactly make them a likable personality in my book. There are MUCH better rom-coms out there to indulge in.
That said, I've eaten at Serendipity in NYC (yes, it's a real place) and Oh. My. Do they do amazing desserts! If you go, expect very long lines and packed crowds. It's not all cozy and romantic like they made it out to be in the movie.
