Alfredo Duque not at all... if you really wanted to see Lucas at his best (LIFT some dialogue)... check out "Hidden Fortress".... good movie. -
Jaye Howard Yeah. The first thing I thought of was R2 & 3PO. The whole story is a loose framework for Star Wars. Great film though!

Supposedly one of the best movies ever. But as far as I can see it is 3:27 hours long. That makes me a little curious. 20 minutes in it feels pretty boring though.

Martin Joakim Yes, and that is a good point, as you kind of is required to watch something with a mindset and a sense of forgiveness towards the time the movie was made. To me films are art and you can't expect a movie from the 50s to be as well crafted as a movie made in the 21st century, but you have to rate them based on the given toolset based on the time they are released.

Joyce Godsey " you can't expect a movie from the 50s to be as well crafted as a movie made in the 21st century"? stop making my head explode. i haven't seen a movie as well crafted as a kurosawa film in over a decade. we have very few auteur's anymore. folks like Tarantino and Scorsese for whom every frame must stand on its own. the majority of the films made in the 21s century should be burnt. -
Martin Joakim @erasergirl I'm talking today's standards, cinematography is evolving and we have movies coming out in a higher rate now than ever. But we don't remember all movies from the past, we remember the movies that pushed the medium forward. I really doubt in 50 years that a lot of movies currently or recently in theaters will be praised and talked about. But failure is eminent. I'm positive that the worst movie from this decade is better than the worst movie from the 50s by today's standards.
