This doc is an interesting look at the post-modern fame machine thru paparazzo Ron Galella, who hunted Jackie O until the court ordered him 25 ft away, & was rightly called "the price tag of the First Amendment." With his basic blue collar, workmanlike approach to taking his pics, other more "arty" photogs interviewed are clearly jealous of the $ & dubious fame his photos brought him. He's socially inept & incredibly clueless about how his behavior affects others, but after 3M+ photos, there are some beautiful & iconic pictures that came from his lens. One interviewee said three things sustain the vicious cycle: 1) the subjects who seek fame or publicity, 2) the photographers seeking $, proximity to the stars & often fame for themselves, & 3) we the consumers w/ an endless hunger to see them. Good flick...
