I first saw Torch Song Trilogy when I was 13. It was on VHS in the movie cabinet, I of course grabbed it because I loved Ferris Bueller's Day off and I saw Matthew Broderick on the cover. While watching the movie it became apparent this was a love story above all else, between a man and his mother, a man and his child, and a man and the two great loves in his life. My favorite part of the movie and that I most identified with was that the son was growing up with 2 dads. At this time in my life I was growing up with 2 moms so being able to see a movie where a kid was going thru the same things as me, meant so much. Harvey Fierstein and Anne Bancroft are brilliant in this movie, as is the rest of the cast. Funny, heartbreaking and no BS for this movie and the story. Will always be one of my all time favorite movies.
