Talk about getting kicked in the pants throughout a movie. It was brilliant, but brutal. Haven't had a visceral reaction to a film like this in a while. Recommend.

Saw this around Oscar time last year. I really like Jennifer Lawrence's performance as Ree in this, and I think that this gives you an idea of how she'll be as Katniss in "The Hunger Games." They are similar sorts of roles, and Jennifer exudes an inner toughness and resilience that makes her a really good choice for Katniss

38 minutes in and I'm surprised by how excellent it is. Did it win for art direction? Because even the set dressing is perfect.

One of those movies you want to go buy six copies of and hand out to friends and tell then to pass it on. Made for about ten dollars and not seen by nearly enough people- except perhaps casting directors who are putting Jennifer Lawrence in every second movie being put out in the next couple of years. Not cheerful but really worth seeing. John Hawkes virtually unrecognizable- Teardrop is a million miles away from Sol Star. Garret Dillahunt puts in his usual good work. Great music and a supporting cast found on location from the looks of things.
