I remember at the time 18 came out I was completely obsessed with Moby. I was following his journal daily to see any news about 18 while counting down the days until the release. And I had heard We Are All Made of Stars so many times by this point I felt even I was in the video (check it out if you haven't already). The morning it finally came out I rushed over to the nearest mall and bought it. I went back to my car, put it in the cd player, drove around listening to it for a while until finally parking at a carwash and sitting in my car until the album was over. I was sad it was over but happy I had listened to such beautiful music.

While some of the songs are fun and even funky, others can really touch you and make you feel like something is wrong. Some of the songs were influenced by the September 11th, which is also Moby's birthday. The song "Sleep Alone" contains the lyrics: "At least we were together, holding hands, flying through the sky." These lyrics are referencing thos...

18 is one of Moby's most solid albums. Starting with the hit "We Are All Made of Stars" the album is a pretty big departure at times from what Moby had set up with 18. Much of the album can be considered down beat, or melancholy. Songs like "In This World" "Great Escape" "One of These Mornings" "Sunday and others" are all very mellow and feature samples talking about walking up to find your lover missing from your bed and being alone.

It then kicks things back up with "Jam for the Ladies" "Extreme Ways" only to sink back down into very mellow melancholy songs like "I'm Not Worried at All".

This is a very laid back album, great to relax to, fall asleep to or read by.
