        The album 2112 features an eponymous seven-part suite written by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, with lyrics written by Neil Peart. The suite tells a dystopian story set in the year 2112. Since the album is named after the suite it is mistakenly thought of as a concept album.

        After the disappointing sales from 'Caress of Steel', and the even more disappointing concert attendance of the tour, Rush seemed to be at a loss. The record company was on their backs, and it seemed that the fans were beggining to lose interest in the trio.

        The compositions on 'Caress of Steel' were very strong, and remain to this day, some of the greatest music from the band. They just needed to take the sound one step further to bring the fans back. And, not only did they take the sound one step further, they took it one major step forward.

        Released in 1976, '2112' remains a favorite among fans still to this day. The sound is amazing, and the production is something that very few bands have been able to live up to.

        The lead off title track, "2112", clocks in at just over twenty minutes long, and is broken into seven individual parts. The song tells a story of a future in which individuality is looked upon with contempt. In this future, an unknowing man accidently uncover...
