There's also a Broadway play based on the songs that you should check out. What's also cool is you can play the entire album on Green Day Rockband!

American Idiot is both very similar to and yet completely unlike any of Green Day's previous albums. In this fantastic "Tommy"-like epic, Billie Joe, Tre Cool, and Mike Dirnt show that they can still pump out rockin' pop-punk tunes; yet they also exhibit their softer side - without betraying their politically-charged punk rock roots.

        A fantastic album with a very interesting back story! This wasn't the original album they were hoping to release in 2004, as their first attempt actually got leaked prior to them finishing it up, and this pushed them to scrap it completely!
        With that album scratched, Billie Joe and company put their heads down and put together this absolutely incredible album in less than half the time they had devoted to the scrapped album that never made it to the public forum!
        Not sure if American Idiot then was a blessing in disguise for Green Day, but one this is for sure...it is a superb album!!
