I just love the sound of Plant's voice- plus he is his own person.

Raising Sand with Alison Krauss was good, but I was prepared to let this one slide until it started appearing on all the best of 2010 lists. Listening to it for the first time, I'm enjoying it. It isn't so much folk or blues as both, low-key, with ambient rock guitars. "Silver Rider" is an immediate favorite. It's great to see Robert Plant hitting a new high.

Robert Plant is making music he enjoys, I don't think he's bothered by what the record company says. Raising Sand was a big hit so I bet the pressure was on to produce another collaboration with Alison Krauss, but here we are with RP pulling together a fine selection of musicians to record songs he enjoys singing.
I saw the Band of Joy live in October (just before the Electric Prom) and they were epic, no egos or attitude (and Robert Plant has more right than most to a bit of on-stage antics) just a bunch of musicians having fun.
        Great album.

Sounding like an homage to The Beatles in places and a Country album in others, this isn't the Robert Plant you might be used to. There is a lot to like here though.
