    I always felt this was an unfairly-maligned album. While it's jagged and abrasive compared to What's the Story, Morning Glory, I found the songwriting and lyrics to be stronger than the later Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, and the album as a whole to be more memorable than Definitely Maybe. As for the band sounding angrier, well, Oasis had just reached the summit of rock music, and I think there are songs that reflect the requisite ego-tripping (My Big Mouth) and insecurity about the future (Stand By Me, Don't Go Away) that accompanied this newfound status. There are also stadium rockers (All Around the World, It's Getting Better Man) that seemingly exist for the sheer reason that Oasis could now fill up stadiums easily. It's all part of what makes this album recorded at the height of the band's fame fascinating.
