    Everything about this album is so perfect! Very experimental and just sounds beautiful! You can never go wrong with Mastodon, they're a very clever band when you come to think of it

    Crack the Skye is not an album of songs per se, but more like a novella of chapters, while each track has the ability to be listened to by itself, the true scope of this beast cannot be appreciated unless you are consumed in it from start to finish.
    This is a HEAVY album, even though the vocals are clean and harmonized, not gutteral or screeched like most bands that would be considered heavy do, Mastodon does not need to convince you that they are heavy. They just are through musicianship and talent. This is a HEAVY album, it drips and oozes with intensity and character, drawing the listener into the riffs and Brann Dailor’s drumming (quite possibly the greatest drummer alive today), creating a realm of sound that wraps itself around and then swallows your brain.
    I think this album is to metalheads what Tool albums have often been to those hard rock types. Crack the Skye breaks barriers in what we have come to expect from heavy music. While it cannot honestly be clas...
