    Elephant is my favorite White Stripes album. And by saying that I know I am both losing and gaining followers. In my research, I have come to discover that a lot of people like this album simply because it has Seven Nation Army on it. But I have also come to understand that a lot of people who say they like Seven Nation Army have no clue what its about.
    
    Many people also complain that the album has a "slick studio sound". What I think needs to be taken into consideration is the fact that it was recorded on equipment that pre-dated The Beatles. In 2003? That is pure beauty. It says in the liner notes that computers were not used in the writing, recording, or mixing of the album. And then to think that some of the songs on this album went on to obtain ridiculous commercial success and was recorded in this fashion. That is one of the biggest middle fingers to the record industry I can think of in the past decade.
