Hailing from the UK, Sweden and Belgium, Fanfarlo began as the bedroom project of lead singer / songwriter Simon Balthazar. His literate pop songs bear more resemblance to the modern folk sounds of Sufjan Stevens, Beirut and The Arcade Fire than the fashion-driven London scene where the band resides. As his vision grew he fleshed out the lineup with an amazingly versatile group of musicians who play a vast number of instruments to bring these lushly-arranged pop tunes to life.
Tapped and spiralling guitars, an insistently hammered piano chord, or an ominous stomp, the fervour withwhich they play is stirring and infectious.
