A friend of mine who is a major musicophile hipped me to this album a few weeks ago, and I've been listening obsessively ever since. Amazing variety of guest vocalists, many of whom I'd never listen to outside of this context (Steve Earl anyone?), but there isn't one "dud" on this album. It's one of those rare albums that I can listen to start-to-finish. 9.5/10

I was so excited to hear about this. Not only do I love 70s/80s-inspired music, but I've been a follower of Philippine politics for the past ten years or so and interested in learning all about their recent history. I've listened to the first half of this so far and LOVE IT! You don't have to know the story in advance to really enjoy it, though it helps, and there's a special edition with a handy-dandy booklet telling all about it. As far as Imelda's story goes, at least how it's presented here, my theater-loving mind sees some parallels with "Evita" and "Wicked". I can hear her as being similar to both the ambitious Eva and the misunderstood Elphaba. I knew nothing before this about her childhood caretaker, and she's the other major female role represented, and I think David Byrne and Fatboy Slim did a fantastic job of weaving the two ladies' stories together!
