    People always talk about John Williams and all such composers, and credit where credit is due, but there are two kind of movie scores out there, in the extreme that is: those that you barely notice (which can be good) and those that are so pretentious as to distract you from the film, but John Powell has found a happy medium. This is one of the most beautiful scores I've ever heard. It did what a great score should do, get out of the way when it's not necessary, but in a situation like Test Drive in the film, the music accentuates the emotion of what's going on. the dreamy compositions added volumes to the joy of flight, tension to the moments of free fall, and pulled your heart strings tighter than a well tuned cello at just the right moments. The amazing mixture of Celtic influence with traditional brass and woodwinds set the tone and placement of the film perfectly. A masterpiece.

    Not only was How To Train Your Dragon an awesome movie but the soundtrack is as well. Probably one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a long time. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score though it lost to The Social Network. I was a bit disappointed when it lost but glad it was recognized.
