    With the recent vogue for all things eighties, the fact that the likes of "The The" have been airbrushed from the musical history of the decade suggests to me that the media has finally succumbed to what Frank Zappa referred to as "The Time Warner approved version of history".
    
    Musical pundits would have you believe that we were all bopping along to the likes of Madonna, Wham and Rick Astley and that the music of the era was merely vacuous shite.
    
    "Infected" shines a caustic light on that particular lie. At the time of release it was one of the biggest albums of its time.
    
    Released in 1986, it is a heartfelt, cynical, impassioned, musically amazing rumination on greed, desire, frustration, and confusion on both a personal and societal level. The song "Heartland" is the best evocation of Thatcher's Britain ever written and, depressingly, is still devastatingly relevant.
