    If you're tired of the '80s imitation acts spouted by the past decade, La Roux shows the listener how new synthpop is done. Singer Elly Jackson brings some introspective lyrics to the table, while keyboardist Ben Langmaid sticks to electronic textures that purposely sound futuristic. While sampling is toned down, particularly in comparison to albums that would've influenced them, nothing in the music sounds artificial, which, for all Auto-Tuned singles in 2009, is a relief.

      Kendra Thank God for things that aren't made nauseatingly self-indulgent with Auto-Tune. Her raw voice kills these tracks.
