Mercury Falling is the fifth studio album released by Sting. The album was marked by its tight studio production and use of brass reminiscent of recordings made at FAME Studios in the 1960s. His release was considered by many fans to signal the beginning of Sting's transition from heavier jazz-inspired rock to the adult contemporary genre.

This is his fifth studio album after The Dream of the Blue Turtles, Nothing Like the Sun, The Soul Cages and Ten Summoner's Tales, I saw a tendency that Sting moved towards contemporary soul jazz. The album title was taken from one of the songs in the album, The Hounds of Winter, which tells the story of a man who has just lost his girlfriend/wife. This song is unique since the girl is personified with nature. Another great song, still a personification of nature, would be "All Four Seasons", here he compares his girlfriend's varying moods with the different seasons of the year, check out some of the lyrics: "With her smile as sweet as a warm wind in summer, she's got me flying like a bird in a bright June sky". Most of his songs here are related to nature, the last example would be "Lithium Sunset". This would be my next favorite albums after The Ten Summoners' Tales. Mercury Falling is an ode to love, fantastic, romantic and a bit melancholic.
