    Steve Vai was taught to play the guitar by Joe Satriani. Some say this is why they have a similar basic sound. On a Joe Satriani documentary video; Joe Says Steve came to his house and did not know how to play. Steve had a guitar in one hand and a pack of strings in the other, he did not even know how to put the strings on!
    
    My first exposure to Steve Vai was on a easy listening jazz radio station in Reno Nevada. the song was Sisters. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tNIOi_SdWk
    
    The announcer even made a point to say that this was the only mellow track on the CD. I bought it anyway and have been a fan every since.
