    Seriously this is like the Sergeant Pepper's of hip-hop. It should be listened to in its entirety, while staring at the 4-panel foldout jacket and reading the lyrics sheet which contains random words and shoutouts mixed into the actual lyrics. It was right before Biz Markie got sued for sampling "Alone Again" and the entire music industry agreed that all samples must be licensed. This album is like the swan song of free sampling. It samples the Beatles, the Eagles, Bob Dylan, Curtis Mayfield, Sly Stone, frickin everyone, even one of those toys that goes "moo" when you turn it upside down. It was actually the Dust Brothers who did it all - the instrumental album was basically done when the Beasties met the Dust Brothers and they were like "our new album!" But the lyrics are inspired, the raps are on point, and the whole thing just works. People just flipped when this came out, it was life-changing.
