        The movie based on it is interesting, too. I wouldn't say it was great, haha. But the musical numbers are great and it's pretty funny (both intentionally and unintentionally) at times!

        "Purple Rain" was more than a film. In actuality, it marked the first time that an artist created a music video (complete with narrative) to accompany his own album. The album itself is full of unique recording techniques, including the controversial "back-masking" (where artists "buried" messages that had to be played backwards to be heard.) The album also spawned the only Platinum-selling single of 1984, "When Doves Cry."

        One of the Best Albums of the 80's. Stripped down electro funk mashed with heavy rock. Not sure if anyone's noticed but "When Doves Cry" has no bass at all, but is still a dope song.
