2001 release. Standardjewel case.Kingston, Ontario twang rocker Luther Wright dresses up the first 13 tracks from the Pink Floyd concept album The Wall in a suit of traditional country and bluegrass styles complete with fiddles, guitars, banjos--the works. The fit is a remarkably good one, as the material lends itself to the novel concept on a concept.
Even Floyd fans who don't care for country ought to be impressed by the band's adherence to detail. While that sort of approach has made for some weak tribute efforts in the past, Rebuild the Wall Pt. 1 takes on an inspired life of its own from the first few strains of "In the Flesh?" through to "Goodbye Cruel World." Sarah Harmer, Carolyn Mark, and Winnipeg violinist Julie Penner are among the disc's many guest players.
