Pepper Rabbit's sophomore album, Red Velvet Snow Ball, released August 9th, 2011, shows the Los Angeles based duo taking inspiration from their favorite city; New Orleans. This album is a collaboration between Xander Singh and Luc Laurent, incorporating 11 instruments and a multitude of styles into their music. With influences spanning generations, from Portishead to David Bowie and Supertramp to Jamie Lidell, the group expands on their own brand of psychedelic pop music.
Red Velvet Snowball is a great album for fans with tastes along the lines of Spoon, Blonde Redhead, Decemberists, Local Natives, and Freelance Whales.

I came into this album expecting a lot more electronica based on their performance last year. I was surprised by their more prominent use of guitars and keyboards, but it works exceptionally well for Pepper Rabbit. The group has put together a winning combination of, well, everything. Hell, they used a total of eleven instruments on the album, including ukuleles, clarinets, and horns. The production on the album is near-flawless, perfectly playing up Xander’s incredible vocal abilities. Their experiments are an inspirational contribution. Their inspirations range from love to politics to years-past musical history. I’m truly impressed.
