    I'm not sure that he'd completely settled into his new style here yet, because Love, Ire & Song is a considerable leap forward from this. Still, he was already smashing songs out of the park - "Once We Were Anarchists" is a classic, and "The Real Damage" isn''t far off, its refrain of 'It was about then that I realised I was halfway through the best years of my life' setting the tone for most of the material he's written since.
