    the score for Terminator Salvation sounds like a more grandiose version of everything that's come before. It has big electronic moments, sweeping orchestrals and suitable action packed music for a movie that splits an audience diversely.
    
    Gone are the incredibly droning rhythms and machine like themes of the previous films and something far more mainstream takes their place. Elfman was a good choice for a well known composer and does a good job as he's naturally talented, but he's also a strange choice.
    
    The entire Terminator Salvation experience is big budget, big actors, big movie, big scope for a series that's had relatively small and personal stories involving a mother and her son. Now it's complicated and the score shows that.
    
    It fits the movie, but I wouldn't ever just throw this on the way I would the score to Terminator 2. Commendable and forgettable all at the same time.

    Terminator Salvation (2009) is director McG’s (Charlie’s Angels; Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle) take on the world created by James Cameron, Gale Anne Hurd, and William Wisher Jr. (The Terminator; Terminator 2: Judgment Day). The script, a post-apocalyptic view of the future set in 2018, was reported to have undergone a number of rewrites by Paul Haggis, Shawn Ryan, possibly Anthony E. Zuiker and Jonathan Nolan, before John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris were credited. The changes were so extensive that novelist Alan Dean Foster even had to resubmit his work which was based on the original shooting script.
