Performed live with Cliff Richards during the musical "Time" at the Dominion Theater, London on April 14th 1988. This was Freddie's last live performance. Simply amazing!

Freddie originally wrote this song with his bandmates from Wreckage. (Most of Freddie's early stuff was written before Queen.) They needed one more song for the album and Freddie pulled it out. Brian, Roger, and John reworked it and that is how it became the first song credited to all four members. Stone Cold Crazy was the fastest song recorded for its time and is considered by many to be the first thrash metal song. Go Freddie!

Although many people will say Freddie's vocal range was 5 octaves, this is not true. Freddie's full voice range was 3 octaves (F2-F5) and his total range was one semitone away from 4 octaves (F2-E6). Freddie was actually a natural baritone, but rock dictated a higher voice which he delivered in full head voice as well as splendid falsetto. Since Freddie often sang the high notes an octave lower in live performances (due to throat nodules from improper technique) this proves that it wasn't his range that made him an impressive singer. It was the way he inflected emotion into every syllable he sang, the way he controlled his vocalization, and the way he made people feel he was singing just for them. There are many male singers with impressive vocal ranges...Roy Orbison, Harry Nilsson, Mika, Rob Halford, Robert Plant, even John Lennon...but only one who delivered the passion, control and emotion that was Freddie Mercury!

MsAwesomeCoolCat Actually, Brian May wrote this. Freddie just sang it. Brian was a little worried that Freddie wouldn't "get" it. When Freddie read it he said, "I love it! And I will sing it with relish!" The reference is to My Fairy King, "Someone just drained the colour from my wings".

We were disliked by the press in the early days because they couldn't put their finger on us, and that was the case with Zeppelin as well.

One of my favorites written by Freddie. Freddie legally changed his named after writing this song hence the reference to "Mother Mercury". Some of the song's lyrics are taken directly from a poem by Robert Browning entitled "The Pied Piper". I just love trivia! Don't you?
