Joel Plaskett is am award-winning, Polaris Prize-nominated Canadian rock musician who has been a longtime favourite on campus radio charts throughout the country.
He was a founding member of the Halifax-based alternative rock band Thrush Hermit from 1992 until its breakup in late 1999.
After Thrush Hermit, Plaskett began his solo career with his band The Emergency.
They released three records (Down at the Khyber, In Need of Medical Attention, and Truthfully,Truthfully) before Plaskett released his first truly solo record. La De Da was recorded in Mesa, Arizon at a studio offered up for free by a fan.
La De Da defined Joel Plaskett as one of the best songwriters from Nova Scotia, and the country.
He has won four Juno awards, eighteen ECMAs, and countless others. The album featured hit "Happen Now" and the love song to Halifax/Dartmouth "Love This Town."
The Emergency was back on the bill for an EP called Make a Little Noise. The EP contained Plaskett's biggest hit to date, "Nowhere With You."
Next up was Ashtray Rock, a sort of concept record about coming of age in Clayton Park, NS.
The album spawned several hits, including "Fashionable People," "Drunk Teenagers," "Snowed In," "Penny For Your Thoughts," and "Nothing More to Say."
Plaskett's latest release is another solo affair. Three is an ambitious, 3-disc album recorded at Plaskett's own home studio, Scotland Yard.
